The second version of "Akavish."

The second version of our "Akavish" rocket sits on the launch pad. This version, like the first, was just a styrofoam ball with legs (dowels) glued into the ball.

After one flight, Akavish landed in one of the streams. It was a little wet, but wasn't damaged.

This is what's inside the Akavish. The body tube is 4" in diameter and the motor tube is 29mm. A 1/4" launch lug is attached to the motor mount tube, but is offset a little to prevent the launch rod from rubbing against the tape used to hold the motor.

Quarter-inch dowels form the legs of the spider. They pass through holes in the body tube and are glued to both the body tube and the motor mount.

The Akavish's head is a large styrofoam ball cut in half and hollowed out to fit over the body tube.
A Hole in His Head

Here's the Akavish just before adding the fur. They eyes are made from smaller balls cut in half with store bought eyes glued on.
