William A. Anders

Astronaut Bill Anders was born on October 17, 1933, in Hong Kong. He received a bachelor of science degree from the United States Naval Academy in 1955 and a master of science degree in Nuclear Engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in 1962.

In 1964, Anders was selected by NASA as an astronaut. He was backup pilot for Gemini XI. As Lunar Module Pilot for Apollo 8, he became one of the first men to orbit the moon.
