Walter M. SchirraWalter Schirra was one of the original seven Mercury astronauts named by NASA in April, 1959. He made six orbits of the earth during the Sigma 7 Mercury flight. During the Gemini program, Schirra was the Command Pilot for Gemini 6. Schirra's final flight was as Command Pilot for Apollo VII.References:
